The Grass wallet is a managed crypto wallet built into the Grass app — created automatically with your account, secured by your passkey, and running on Solana. How do I set up the Grass wallet?
There is no setup. The wallet is created automatically with your Grass account and is ready the moment you sign in — no app to install, no seed phrase to write down on day one. Your private key is generated and stored by a specialized, secure third-party provider; Grass itself never has access to it. The first useful thing to do is create your passkey (Wallet → Advanced Settings → Manage Passkey): it uses your device’s fingerprint, face unlock, or PIN to approve transactions, and nothing can be signed without it. You can reset it from the same screen at any time — resetting revokes the old passkey and replaces it with the new one.
Two security rules before anything else: sharing your wallet address (the long string on your deposit screen) is always safe — it can only receive. Your private key and seed phrase are the opposite: anyone who sees them controls your funds, and Grass will never ask you for them.
How do I deposit funds into the Grass wallet?
You can deposit SOL or USDC three ways: credit/debit card, Venmo, or a direct crypto transfer. Card and Venmo/Paypal purchases run through MoonPay, and their availability depends on your region — if an option is greyed out, it isn’t offered where you are.
By card or Paypal/Venmo
- Open the wallet and choose Deposit.
- Pick the token (SOL or USDC) and an amount — presets run from $50 to $300, or enter your own.
- Choose Credit/Debit Card or Venmo/Paypal as the payment method and press Continue.
- Complete the purchase in the MoonPay checkout window that opens inside the app.
By crypto transfer
Choose Crypto as the deposit method and the app shows your wallet address and a QR code. Copy the address or let the sender scan the code, and the funds arrive directly from their wallet. Double-check that the sender is on the Solana network — tokens sent on the wrong network can’t be recovered.
How do I withdraw from the Grass wallet?
There are two paths: cash out to regular money through MoonPay, or send tokens to another wallet you’ve linked.
Cashing out (crypto → your bank)
Choose Withdraw → Sell Tokens on the Exchange. Three tokens can be sold — SOL, USDC, and USDT — and the money can go to a card, Venmo, or PayPal, depending on what MoonPay supports in your region. Pick the token and amount, get a quote, and complete the sale in the MoonPay window.
Sending to another wallet
The Grass wallet only sends to addresses you’ve approved in advance — a safety feature that makes “sent to the wrong address” mistakes much harder. To manage the list, go to Withdraw → Send Tokens to Another Wallet → Link Wallets. You can link up to 20 external wallets, each with a name so you can tell them apart. Once a wallet is linked:
- Choose the token and amount (or press MAX).
- Select the linked wallet from the dropdown.
- Press Send and approve with your passkey.
Remember: blockchain transactions are permanent. Once confirmed, a send can’t be canceled or reversed, so check the destination before approving.
How do swaps work in the Grass wallet?
A swap exchanges one token for another directly inside your wallet — GRASS for USDC, SOL for GRASS — with no exchange account and no SOL needed for gas. Destinations are limited to the Jupiter verified token list, a vetted catalog that protects you from fake tokens with copycat names.
- Select the token to swap from and the token to swap to.
- Enter an amount, or press MAX to swap your full balance.
- Press Quote and review the offer: exchange rate, estimated amount received, USD value, slippage, and price impact.
- Confirm within the quote window — quotes expire after at most 30 seconds. If yours lapses, just request a fresh one.
- Press Swap and approve with your passkey.
Swaps are gasless: the network cost is covered by taking a tiny portion of the token you’re swapping, so you never need SOL on hand. There’s no fixed minimum swap size, though the amount does need to be large enough to cover the network and wallet fees that come out of it. The final amount received can vary slightly with market conditions — that’s what the slippage setting controls (Auto is the default and recommended; anything above 2% custom slippage triggers a warning).
How does staking work in the Grass wallet?
You can stake GRASS from a minimum of 1 token to help secure the network and receive staking rewards. The staking screen has three tabs — Stake, Unstake, and Claim Rewards — and shows your staked balance and rewards at the top.
Staking
- Open Stake and enter an amount (minimum 1 GRASS), or press MAX.
- A default staking pool is selected automatically — you can pick a different validator before staking, and pools offer different reward rates, so it’s worth reviewing them.
- Confirm. Your first stake ever includes a one-time on-chain account setup fee of roughly $3.30, deducted automatically — it creates the network account that tracks your stake.
Unstaking and claiming
Unstaking has a 7-day unstaking period — a standard Solana security measure, not a Grass rule — before tokens return to your balance. The minimum unstake is 1 GRASS, and you can have up to 20 pending withdrawals at a time; the Unstake tab shows requests in progress and when the next withdrawal unlocks. Rewards become claimable on the Claim Rewards tab once you’ve accumulated at least 1 GRASS.
One thing worth knowing before you stake elsewhere: staked tokens are tied to the wallet that staked them, not to your Grass account. Staking also remains available at grassfoundation.io/stake using third-party wallets like Phantom or Solflare — but you must reconnect the same wallet you originally staked with to see that stake.
What fees does the Grass wallet charge?
A flat $0.15 wallet fee per transaction, plus the Solana network fee — both deducted automatically, so there are no surprise charges. The wallet fee covers the cost of running the wallet service (key storage, signing infrastructure, transaction processing); Grass doesn’t profit from it. The network fee goes to Solana, not Grass: the base is about $0.0005, with an optional priority fee (typically under $0.01) during busy periods. If fees look high when you’re withdrawing or claiming, waiting for network traffic to clear can save you money.
How do I track my transactions?
The wallet shows your transactions in real time — each with its type, transaction hash, status, timestamp, token amount, and a View link that opens the transaction on a blockchain explorer. A dedicated Transaction History page lets you filter by category. Because every transaction is public on Solana, the explorer link is your independent receipt: anyone can verify what happened and when, without taking anyone’s word for it.
What can I customize in Advanced Settings?
- Manage Passkey — create or reset the passkey that approves your transactions. Resetting revokes the old one.
- Export Private Key — reveal your private key or seed phrase to back it up or use your wallet in another app (see below).
- Preferred Explorer — choose which blockchain explorer transaction links open in (Solscan, Solana Explorer, and others, or a custom URL).
- Transaction Settings — set transaction speed (Fast / Average / Slow), toggle priority fees, and set slippage (Auto recommended; 0.3%, 0.5%, 1%, or custom — custom values above 2% show a warning). Speed selection only applies when priority fees are on.
- Default RPC — choose which connection the wallet uses to talk to Solana, or provide a custom endpoint. The default works for nearly everyone.

How do I export my private key?
Exporting reveals the private key (a text string) or seed phrase (a list of words) that controls your wallet — so you can back it up or import the wallet into another app, for example to connect to dApps the Grass wallet doesn’t support. Before you start, understand the trade: once the key leaves the app, its safety is entirely in your hands. Anyone who sees it has full control of your funds.
- Go to the Wallet page → Advanced Settings → Export Private Key.
- Enter your Grass password and tick the confirmation box (“I will not share my private key with anyone, including Grass”).
- Enter the one-time code sent to your email and press Verify. If you receive one of these codes without asking for it, don’t enter it anywhere.
- Choose the format: Export Private Key (a text string for importing into another wallet) or Export Secret Phrase (a set of words that does the same job).
- Store what you see somewhere private — paper or a password manager, never a screenshot or chat. Then close the screen.
Exporting doesn’t disconnect your Grass wallet — it keeps working in the app exactly as before; a copy of the key simply exists wherever you put it. And if you lose your exported copy, sign back in and export again: the wallet stays linked to your account.

What happens if I lose my seed phrase?
With most self-custody wallets, a lost seed phrase means permanently lost funds. The Grass wallet stays linked to your account, so you can sign back in and export it again. Store any exported copy on paper or in a password manager.
Can I import my existing wallet into Grass?
No. Each Grass account gets one automatically generated wallet, permanently linked to the account. You can export your Grass wallet outward, but you can’t bring an outside wallet in.
